Protea Metering provides several different payment options for both standard as well as prepaid clients. Please make sure the correct REFERENCE is used to ensure that payments are allocated to the correct account.

Credit and Debit Cards

Customers can pay with a credit or debit card at our Pretoria or Midrand Offices. No Cash will be accepted at any of the offices.

Debit Order

Normal Accounts, Prepaid and Smart Metering (OAMI) clients

With a debit order your payable amount will be withdrawn from your account automatically each month. Debit Order authorisation also gives access to the SMS top-up functionality to Prepaid and OAMI/Smart Metering customers. EasyPay

Prepaid and Smart Metering (OAMI) clients

Prepaid electricity token can be purchased at EasyPay points which include national outlets of Pick 'n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, FNB ATM’s.
Your Meter Number must be presented at the vending outlet and the teller must be told to put the transaction through the ESKOM system.
A 20 digit token number is generated on the slip that you receive from the cashier.
Once the token number is punched into the prepaid meter the electricity is automatically loaded. Smart Meter (meters without keypads) will have the tokens delivered to the meter automatically, without any human interaction.

UniPin

Prepaid and Smart Metering (OAMI) clients

Prepaid electricity token can be purchased at Unipin points which include national outlets of Engen, Shell, Sasol, BP, Spar, Nedbank ATMs and Cash Express ATMs.
Your Meter Number must be presented at the vending outlet.
Collect receipt from teller and follow the steps in the slip to retrieve your 20 digit code.

Your request will be processed and you will receive a 20 digit voucher via sms

SMS

The SMS functionality is only available if you have completed a Debit Order Authorisation form (see above).
